Our Projects
North Haiti Christian University
North Haiti Christian University (UCNH) is committed to the preparation of Christian young people for positions of leadership in Haiti. North Haiti Christian University currently offers a core program of general studies plus four majors:
- Agriculture (agronomy). The agronomy program is a five year program that focuses on local, national, and international economic and environmental issues. Students have a broad science base as they explore agriculture. UNCH has the second highest rated Agriculture program in the country.
- Theology. The school of Theology is the only department that has a graduate degree beyond the four year theology degree. Several opportunities for biblical studies and pastoral training are available. A master of divinity and a license for ministry are offered to those who wish to pursue further degrees.
- Business and computer science. In addition to offering a four year program in this area, a 2-year bilingual secretary certificate is available for those who wish to be prepared for international business.
- Fine Arts and Christian Leadership. An outgrowth of music camp, this four year program prepares artistic leaders in the areas of worship, applied music, art, and the dramatic arts. Students do art projects, dramatic presentations, and concerts as part of their learning process.
North Haiti Music Camp
North Haiti Music Camp (NHMC) provides foundations in music, worship leadership, liturgical dance, and life skills such as hygiene and finance management. The mission of the camp is to empower individuals to use music to reach out to others with the love of Jesus and equip leaders to bring about positive changes in their communities, their churches, and their own lives.
NHMC began in 1978 by Laurel Casseus with the vision to train Haitian choral directors to become more effective leaders and musicians in their local churches. It has since grown to incorporate instrumental music training, choral and vocal performance, choir direction, dance performance, and biblical teaching for finances and life training.
The camp also focuses on educating the people of Haiti. With music being a central part of Haiti’s culture, people with knowledge of music have the ability to bring about change in a Christ-centered manner due to the instruction they have received at NHMC.The purpose of the camp is being fulfilled, confirmed through the lives of students who have attended the camp.
Alumni of the camp have gone on to become pastors, doctors, musicians, educators, and other professionals who have impacted thousands of individuals in their respective fields. It continues to transform the lives of passers-by who stand mesmerized as beautiful sounds from the camp choirs, the band, and soloists erupt in the afternoon sky in the town of Limbe’. Haiti Hope Fund provides funding, logistical support, supplies, and volunteer personnel for NHMC each year.
Scholarships and Student Aid
We provide scholarships for dedicated and talented Haitian students to pursue studies in their field. Scholarships are provided on a named basis only to students who show extraordinary drive and ability. Haiti Hope Fund provides student aid to those students who are not able to cover the full financial cost of attending UCNH. The number of students who are in need of student aid has increased dramatically in recent times, as many students have come to UCNH due to the turmoil in other parts of the country.
Ebenezer Clinic
Located in the center of Haut Limbe, a small town in Northern Haiti, the Ebenezer Clinic is the only source of medical care for miles. The clinic supplies care and treatment for all of the residents of Haut Limbe and the surrounding mountain areas. Since the Cholera epidemic that began after the earthquake in 2010, the clinic has been overloaded with patients.
Ebenezer clinic needs additional space and doctors to handle the influx of patients. Haiti Hope Fund provides funding for medical supplies and logistical support for volunteer medical personnel. We are also working with the clinic to assist in the completion of an overnight care facility.
Primary Schools
We help to provide quality, Bible-based elementary education for children in Haiti. We seek to form partnerships with communities in order for the community and its members to also become stakeholders in these schools. We help not only to provide learning opportunities for young people, but we help to improve the quality of the education that they receive.
Water Storage Project
HHF is assisting UCNH to replace a contaminated water storage system with a new, up-to-date cistern. The cistern supplies water to the University as well as the entire community of Haut Limbe and the surrounding areas. With no proper storage, water availability is limited to only a few hours a day, when the pump is running to supply fresh water. This is an urgent matter that HHF is trying to address as soon as possible.
Relief Fund
Haiti Hope Fund provides relief funds and supplies on an as needed basis to mission agencies working in Haiti. Quick response time and intervention flexibility are hallmarks of HHF relief operations in Haiti. Following the devastating earthquake in 2010, HHF responded immediately, sending cash by courier for medical supplies, food, and logistic support.
